About Will Foerster

Will Foerster (B. 2003) is a fashion, portrait, and contemporary photographer who works exclusively in black and white. An academic of both the history of photography and art history, Foerster’s work strongly references classical photography and photographic processes. Foerster’s style is graphic, minimal, and historically reminiscent, yet still refreshingly contemporary.

In my work, I capture the essence of empowerment and chic elegance, and am driven by a passion for showcasing the strength, confidence, and individuality of each person I photograph. By blending modern aesthetics with classic techniques, I create images that are both timeless and strikingly current.

I believe that everyone has an inherent power and unique beauty that deserves to be highlighted. My approach involves a careful balance of bold composition, dynamic lighting, and thoughtful, contemporary styling. This allows me to create an alternate portrayal of my subjects, presenting them as both powerful and effortlessly chic.

Fashion and contemporary art profoundly influence my work, guiding my choices in styling, composition, and visual storytelling. Drawing inspiration from cutting-edge fashion trends and the bold expressions found in modern art, I craft portraits that not only capture the essence of my subjects but also reflect the dynamic and ever-evolving world of contemporary culture.

Ultimately, my work is a celebration of individuality and strength, blending the timeless allure of people with the modern sophistication and artistic depth inspired by fashion and contemporary art. Through this integration, I aim to create portraits that are not only visually striking but also deeply reflective of contemporary culture and reminiscent of classical photographic work.
